Look, shit is pretty bad right now. We appear to be in the early stages of a major global war. Large parts of the world are literally on fire. Antisemitism and anti-blackness are on the rise throughout the US, white supremacist militias are organizing public gatherings, and both LGBTQ+ rights and women’s rights are under increasingly dire threat, at both national and local levels. It’s a crappy way to start a decade.

If you’re like us, you’re feeling torn between wanting to retreat into fandom and wishing you could do something to help fix at least a little bit of everything that’s going wrong.

The good news is: you can do both at the same time. Fandom Trumps Hate is back for a fourth (fourth!) year, raising money for a host of excellent organizations that are resisting the Trump agenda and fighting to protect those whom it seeks to harm. We’re hoping you’ll be back to join us, and help make this the biggest and most successful auction yet.

2020 AUCTION CALENDAR

• Monday, Jan 13th: creator signups open
• Friday, January 31st: creator signups close
• Monday, February 17th: Browsing week begins
• Monday, February 24th, 8am EST: Bidding opens
  
• Friday, February 28th, 8pm EST: Bidding closes
• Friday, March 6th, 8pm EST: Proof of donation due from winning bidders
• Thursday, December 31st, 11:59pm EST: Fanworks due

LIST OF SUPPORTED NONPROFITS

We are continuing our policy from last year of putting our support behind smaller organizations that are doing important progressive work. This year’s nonprofits include immigrant protection organizations, education organizations that are combating racism and antisemitism, community-based environmental groups, organizations working for the integrity of the press and of US elections, and more. We’re also continuing the policy of allowing creators to add in one other nonprofit of their choice. You can read more about it here.

BIDDING IS NOW CLOSED. We will be in touch with creators, and with auction winners, over the next few days. Once we've collected proof of donation from everyone -- which will be within a couple of days of the March 6th deadline -- we will announce this year's totals.
